Ray “Flocko” Flockton, a distinguished former NSW all-rounder, has passed away in his home town of Port Macquarie, age 81.

Flockton played 34 First Class matches for NSW between 1951-1963, in a state career that was disrupted by his police employment. Making his first grade debut at 16 for Paddington, “Flocko” was a highly respected and popular player, making 1695 runs at 41.34 before retiring.

A solid middle-order batsman who bowled leg-spin and then medium-pace, Flockton made 139 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in St George’s First grade final victory against Mosman in 1960-61. Flockton made his highest score of 264no in January 1960 at the Sydney Cricket Ground against South Australia. This innings is the 15th highest individual score for the State.

Flockton’s former St George and NSW captain, Warren Saunders, will deliver the eulogy at Port Macquarie’s Innes Gardens Memorial Park Crematorium in a service beginning at 11am on Friday (25 November).
