Blues squad to play SA in Shield

In-form NSW Men’s Cricket Team all-rounder Jack Edwards has backed the Blues’ passion and hunger for success as they head to South Australia for their next Marsh Sheffield Shield clash that starts at the Adelaide Oval tomorrow.

Edwards is part of a 12-player NSW squad announced today, that sees two changes to the one that drew with Queensland at Cricket Central in Sydney last week. Uncapped fast bowlers Jack Nisbet and Ross Pawson come in for Hayden Kerr and Ollie Davies. Nisbet, 20, made his List-A debut last week, snaring 3/59 as NSW suffered a heartbreaking loss to Queensland, while 28-year-old Pawson, who signed a full-time contract with the Blues for this summer while he was the Head of Athletic Development at St Augustine's College in Brookvale, has been outstanding in Sydney Premier Cricket and the national Second Xl competition for several seasons. Kerr was not considered as he recovers from an adductor strain suffered in the Shield match against Queensland. Edwards believes the side is as committed as he has ever seen in his time at the Blues and that a Shield win is just around the corner. “It’s been disappointing. It’s never nice to be around a losing side and we all want to win (but) I think the passion and hunger is there more than I’ve ever seen it before,” Edwards said. “I think we are doing a lot of good things at the moment and out of the pre-season we’ve been in place to win every game so far, but we just haven’t quite got over the line. “I think the processes are great there and I think everyone’s passion to represent NSW is as high as ever. Everyone’s hungry and we are doing a lot of good things, so hopefully some wins are coming soon.” The NSW Second Xl team to face Tasmania in Kangaroo Bay in a four-day match beginning on Monday will be announced tomorrow, while the Blues team to take on South Australia in a Marsh One-Day Cup fixture on October 20 will be named mid-week and is expected to include Nathan Lyon.
