Players and sponsors join CNSW Foundation’s Golf Day for a cause

This was the second consecutive year that the Cricket NSW Foundation (the Foundation) held its annual Golf Charity Day and the results were bigger and better than before.

Despite the choppy weather, the day proved to be a success with raffles, putting contests and a silent auction adding flavour to the actual golf that 23 groups of four played that morning at the beautiful Bonnie Doon Golf Club, to varying degrees of success.

In addition to golf enthusiasts and the Foundation’s benefactors and sponsors were star cricketers such as Dan Christian, Sammy-Jo Johnson, Baxter Holt, Hannah Darlington and others, most of whom chipped away at the greens and had an amazing time while also helping with a cause.

The grand raffle prize was a one-of-its kind Ashes 2023 team shirt signed by every Australian player on tour that year, while the silent auction items were a mix of artwork, cricket and golf memorabilia and even luxury holidays on offer.

The Foundation also launched its EOFY campaign at the Golf Day with attendees pledging support through tax-deductible donations to the “Play It Forward” initiative.

Among the major sponsors for the day were Helping Hand Auction Group, who helped with the silent auction on the day to raise valuable funds for the Foundation, and provided a couple of teams to play as well.

The other major sponsors were Drummond Golf Northmead and Drummond Golf Stanmore, who supplied teams, goodie bags for all participants and some wonderful prizes for the winners.

The day’s stellar beverage supply was courtesy of Gage Roads and Brokenwood Wines, who are no strangers to CNSW, both organisations are existing sponsors. They were joined by Famous Soda Co who supplied sugar free soft drinks in the on-course drinks cart for all players.

Command51, who are Cricket Central’s cleaning partners, were another sponsor for the day, while Best Signs were the signage sponsor.

Meanwhile, a somewhat challenging putting contest creating a great diversion mid-game for players and kept everyone in great spirts, with the winner walking away with a beautiful driver as a prize.

Jake Balnave, Head of Cricket NSW Foundation, said:

“We extend our thanks to all the groups who purchased teams and spots on the day as well, many of whom are also friends and partners of Cricket NSW and the Cricket NSW Foundation.

The Golf Charity Day brought us all together for a good cause for the second time in as many years, and the proceeds from it will go a long way in bringing cricket to children that love the game but are impeded from playing it.

It is one of our endeavours at the Cricket NSW Foundation to remove all barriers to playing cricket, and we were truly able to take some meaningful steps towards that through this day.”
