The 2024-25 AW Green Shield competition begins on Tuesday, December 17, with more than 300 aspiring male U16 cricketers from all 20 NSW Premier Cricket clubs to feature.
Widely regarded as one of the country’s premier junior competitions, teams will go head-to-head in seven prelim rounds before the top eight placed sides qualify for an elimination finals series ahead of the grand final on Sunday, January 26.
Cricket NSW Premier Cricket Manager, Sean Mantle, said:
“We’re looking forward to another intensely contested AW Green Shield competition.
“For many players this is the start of their Premier Cricket journey, and it is always exciting to follow the next generation of stars come through.
“The competition is proven to be one of the country’s leading youth representative competitions producing such players as Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Ollie Davies and Sam Konstas and I’m sure this season’s players will be inspired to follow in their footsteps.
“We wish all players, coaches, officials and volunteers the best for 2024/25 AW Green Shield competition.”
Defending champs, Manly-Warringah, take on Eastern Suburbs at Waverly Oval while last season’s runners-up, Parramatta, meet Western Suburbs at Merrylands Park in their opening fixture.
