Breakers mark Cricket Central debut with five-wicket win

The NSW Breakers have claimed a five-wicket victory over rivals Queensland Fire in their 2023-24 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) season opener at new home venue Cricket Central.

Erin Burns was named Player of the Match for an outstanding all-around performance which featured a four-wicket haul and an unbeaten 31-run innings.

Ash Gardner led the scoring for the Breakers, recording a near run-a-ball 54 from 56 deliveries.

The Breakers will look to maintain a perfect start to the new season this Sunday (Sept 24), as they face-off against Queensland again. The first ball is scheduled for 9.30am, live from Cricket Central.
