Rising stars Jack Nisbet and Joel Davies are on the verge of a List-A debuts after they were named in a 12-player NSW Men’s Team for their Marsh One-Day Cup clash with Queensland at North Sydney Oval on Monday.
Nisbet, Davies eye Blues One Day debut
The Blues began their One-Day Cup campaign this summer with a win and a loss in a pair of matches at Junction Oval in Melbourne, with 19-year-old Davies, as 12th man.
Now Davies and 20-year-old Nisbet have a chance to join the starting Xl that sees only two changes from the 13 that travelled to Melbourne, with left arm bowling all-rounder Hayden Kerr and veteran Jackson Bird ruled out.
The Blues group contains a mix of experienced veterans in captain Moises Henriques, Ben Dwarshuis, Chris Green, Daniel Hughes, Kurtis Patterson and Chris Tremain, alongside the next generation of NSW stars that includes Nisbet, Davies and his older brother Ollie, as well as Jack Edwards, Matthew Gilkes and Jason Sangha.
The younger Davies brother burst onto the scene in last summer’s KFC BBL, playing a cameo role for the Sydney Thunder before captaining Australia’s under 19 team in a series against England. The left hand bat and left arm orthodox spinner has now switched to the Sydney Sixers for the BBL but will be hoping to make his mark for the Blues first.
Nisbet has also represented Australia at U19 level and a long career at the top level beckons for the right-arm fast bowler.
The match begins at 10.00am (Sydney time) and will be broadcast live on cricket.com.au and Kayo.
