Test spinner Nathan Lyon and fast bowler Liam Hatcher are the players to drop out of the Blues team that scored a 10-wicket victory over defending Shield champions Western Australia at the SCG earlier this month.
They have been replaced in the squad by Hayden Kerr and Ben Dwarshuis, while the 12th player for the Western Australia fixture, Chris Green, maintains his position in the group. Lyon’s omission had long been earmarked for this match as part of the management of the calf injury suffered at the Ashes. His planned build up for Australia’s home-Test summer includes playing in NSW’s next match at the SCG, starting November 28. Hatcher is nursing foot soreness, while Jack Edwards was again not considered for selection as he manages minor niggles.
