Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships conclude in Newcastle

The men’s competition provided an enthralling final day, as the Bush Blues produced a crucial win over Victoria to momentarily position themselves at the top of the table. Queensland would overcome ACT shortly after, which unfortunately pushed NSW down into second place on net run rate.  

The final ladder from the men’s competition looked like this:

The leading performers from the Bush Blues side were:

• Ethan Debono (Greater Illawarra) | 244 runs
• Bailey Abela (Greater Illawarra) | 193 runs
  
  
• Nick Foster (Newcastle) | 12 wickets
• AJ Isherwood (Newcastle) | 12 wickets
• Aaron Bills (Newcastle) | 12 wickets

The Bush Breakers met a slightly similar fate, qualifying for finals in second place, before falling 19 runs shy of Victoria’s total in the semi-finals.

The leading performers from the Bush Breakers side were:

• Dharmini Chauhan (Greater Illawarra) | 232 runs
• Jodie Hicks (Riverina) | 205 runs & 6 wickets
• Kira Churchland (Western) | 198 runs & 10 wickets
  
  
• Emma-Jayne Howe (Newcastle) | 12 wickets
• Claire Murray (Riverina) | 8 wickets

Congratulations to Ethan Debono, Dharmini Chauhan and Jodie Hicks, who were selected in their respective Men’s and Women’s Australian Country Merit teams.
