NSW secure second and third place at U16 Female National Championships

NSW Metropolitan have finished runners up at the U16 Female National Championships in Tasmania, going down to Victoria Metro by one wicket in a thrilling grand finale. Meanwhile, NSW Country surged to victory against Queensland to secure a third-place finish.

Emily Powell was named Player of the Competition after accumulating 268 runs at an average of 67.0 (second highest), taking three wickets and captaining the NSW Metropolitan team to the final.

NSW Country captain, Caoimhe Bray, finished as the carnival’s leading run-scorer, adding 315 runs at an average of 52.5, whilst also claiming five wickets and nine catches.

Lakshmi Rajadurai, from the NSW Metropolitan squad, captured 15 dismissals (8.33 average), to finish ahead of all other wicket-takers in the tournament.

Ava Drury took 13 poles (10.46 average), concluding as the leading NSW Country wicket-taker and second highest in the competition overall.

Powell, Bray, Rajadurai and Drury were all selected in the Team of the Tournament.

Powell also accepted the Spirit of Cricket award on behalf of the NSW Metropolitan squad. This award was shared with Western Australia and is presented to the team or teams who play in the best spirit and with the greatest respect for the game.
