Final four vie for inaugural CNSW Community Cricket Cup

The four remaining teams in the Cricket NSW Community Cricket Cup will converge upon Kanebridge Oval in Rouse Hill this Sunday, for a highly anticipated short-format elimination finals day.

Two metropolitan clubs, Epping Bulls Cricket Club and Berowra Cricket Club, have qualified through separate pools, while Wollongong District Cricket Club and Wallsend District Cricket Club, representing regional NSW, have also progressed through their respective brackets.

The day is set to follow a triple-header format, with the first semi-final scheduled for 10am, followed by the second semi-final at 2pm, culminating in the inaugural Cricket NSW Community Cricket Cup grand final at 6.30pm.

Semi-final 1 | 10.00am
Wallsend District Cricket Club v Berowra Cricket Club

Wallsend District Cricket Club

  • Three relatively comfortable victories over Belmont CC (10 wicket win), Nulla CC (7 wicket win) and The Entrance CC (58 run win) leading up to this semi-final.
  • Have kept their past opponents to 10/51, 10/61 and 10/55.
  • Allrounder Callum Gabriel has 6 wickets at an average of 4.00 for the competition and is coming off the back of a 56* (53) knock in the most recent round.

Berowra Cricket Club

  • Two tight wins over Roseville CC (19 run win) and Dubbo CYMS CC (4 wicket win) to qualify for the semi-finals.
  • Mitch Fullagar has the team’s highest score, striking 51 (33) in their win over Roseville.
  • Brody Collier, Adam West and Scott Griffin have four wickets for the competition, having each snared two in their previous two outings.

Wollongong District Cricket Club v Epping Bulls Cricket Club

Wollongong District Cricket Club

  • Wollongong defeated Georges River DCC by 113 runs in their opening round, and followed on with a 64-run victory over South Wagga Blues CC to qualify for the finals day.
  • Opener, Ethan Debono, launched 97 runs from just 47 balls in the sides first match of the tournament.
  • Four bowlers have claimed three or more wickets in a previous round – Luke Day 4-7, Cooper Bramley 3-6, Kyle Jarrett 3-12 and David Wood 3-12.

 Epping Bulls Cricket Club

  • The Bulls are three from three when chasing. An opening round, 7 wicket victory over Lindfield DCC preceded a 7 wicket win over De La Salle Kingsgrove CC, and finally an 8 wicket triumph over Auburn DCC to reach the semi-finals.  
  • Himanshu Warde has 108 runs at an average of 52, after his match winning innings of 66* (41) against Auburn.
  • Sharan Rajendran boasts figures of 2-14 and 4-22 from two appearances.

The club that secures the 2023/24 Cricket NSW Community Cricket Cup will be awarded $2,000 in prize money.

The club that finishes runners up, as well as both clubs eliminated in the semi-finals, will receive free entry into the 2024/25 edition of the tournament (valued at $500 each).
