Highlands and Narrabri Prepare for Plan B Country Plate Final showdown

Highlands District Cricket Association will face Narrabri District Cricket Association in the final of the Plan B Country Plate competition at Hurstville Oval this Sunday, March 10.

Participants in the Plan B Country Plate competition are from small country associations, with the finalists determined following a series of 40-overs a side knock out matches across regional NSW.

Highlands secured their place in this weekend's big fixture with a thrilling two-wicket semi-final win over Albury Wodonga. Dale Young (4-25) and Nathan Ring (3-16) were the standout performers for the side from Southern NSW.

Narrabri knocked out defending champions, Gilgandra, in a tense three-wicket victory in their semi-final clash. Cooper Brayshaw took 3-4 and scored 13 (not out) to send his team to the final.

Chair of Country Cricket NSW, Paul Marjoribanks, said:

“This is an exciting time for both associations.

“For players to have the opportunity to proudly represent their associations in a match of this prestige, and able to play on one of the best grounds in state in Hurstville Oval, is an added bonus which will give these players and supporters memories for the rest of their lives.

“This competition also serves as a reminder to all participants of the importance of having a Plan B when driving long distances on country roads.”
