Blues squad for WA One-Day Cup opener

Selectors for the NSW Men’s Team have named a 12-player squad for Sunday’s One-Day Cup season opener against Western Australia at Cricket Central.

Recently announced skipper Jack Edwards will lead the Blues’ side, that includes veteran stars Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques and the returning Nic Maddinson, in the re-match of last year’s final.

Former Western Australian Josh Philippe has been named as a possible debutant, as has fellow dashing wicketkeeper/batter, Lachlan Shaw.

Ben Dwarshuis was not available after he received a call-up to the Australian team in England alongside another Blues regular, Sean Abbott, while Chris Tremain, Jackson Bird, Joel Davies and Hayden Kerr continue their rehab from minor off season niggles.

Cricket NSW Chief of Cricket Performance Greg Mail said an exciting time lay ahead for the Blues.

“We are really looking forward to Jack Edwards captaining the team for the first time,” Mail said.

“We have two potential debutants in Josh Philippe, who brings international experience in this format, and Lachlan Shaw, who has worked really hard in the off season and played well in our trials over the last few weeks.

“Nic Maddinson is back in Blue for the first time in years and we also have Daniel Hughes back from an extremely successful stint in the UK.”

The match gets underway at 9.30am and is free for spectators or can be seen live on Kayo and cricket.com.au.

Spectators are reminded that part of Cricket Central’s northwestern boundary is a construction zone as part of the facility’s Stage 2 development, limiting the areas available for seating. For full spectator details, click here.
