Cricket NSW and Sydney Thunder have today applauded the news that Cricket Australia’s Conduct Commission has modified David Warner’s lifetime leadership ban, effective immediately.
A three-member Review Panel determined that Warner had met the necessary criteria to have the ban lifted.
Warner will now be eligible to hold leadership roles in all Australian Cricket competitions.
Lee Germon, CNSW CEO, said:
“Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct allows for a fair and rigorous process for all players and player support personnel to have long-term sanctions reviewed and Cricket NSW and our Board have supported David in this process.
“We are pleased David chose to have his sanction reviewed and that he will again be eligible to take up leadership positions in Australian Cricket.
“David has been nothing less than a role model on and off the field since his original sanction was imposed and we thoroughly support the Review Panel’s findings.”
Trent Copeland, Sydney Thunder GM, said:
“David is a valued member of the Sydney Thunder family and has demonstrated tremendous leadership qualities at the club over the last two seasons.
“This decision provides us with the opportunity to consider David for further leadership roles at Sydney Thunder, but also allows him the chance to embrace other leadership opportunities inside and outside of cricket.”
