St George-Sutherland Claim Ruth Preddy Trophy

St George-Sutherland have gone one better in 2024/25, lifting their maiden Ruth Preddy Trophy, awarded to the winners of the women’s first grade NSW Premier Cricket title, after defeating Campbelltown Camden at Cricket Central on Sunday.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Breakers star Tahlia Wilson (52), and Basil Sellers Scholar Lucy Finn (72) lifted the Slayers to 197 from their 50 overs. 

In reply, the Ghosts lost opener Alexandra Mavros in the second over. Kelly Rowlings (43) and Lauren Cheatle (37) kept them in the mix but when the latter fell to the quick glove work of Wilson behind the stumps, the Ghosts lost 5-70 and were bowled out 25-runs short of the target.  

Lucy Finn was named player of the final, top scoring with 72 and finishing with figures of 2-18 (6.1), including the winning wicket of Tahlia Pracy.
