Cricket fans across NSW will have the chance to see some of the world’s best players in action in Sydney next summer with three massive matches booked in for the SCG in the 2025/26 International schedule that was launched today.
The iconic SCG will first host a day/night clash between India and Australia in a men’s ODI on October 25, before NSW’s Pat Cummins and his team play the traditional New Year’s Pink Test as part of the Men’s NRMA Insurance Ashes Test Series from January 4-8.
The Australian women’s team, that in recent years has been captained by NSW veteran Alyssa Healy and featured Breakers teammates Ash Gardner and Phoebe Litchfield, alongside home-grown megastar Ellyse Perry, will take on India in a night time T20I on February 15.
Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said the blockbuster SCG matches provided cricket fans across the state with an amazing opportunity to see the best of what the sport has to offer at an elite level.
“There are few more iconic events in cricket than an Ashes Test at the SCG and next summer’s edition is shaping up as one of the most exciting yet for fans and our NSW-bred players, led by Australian captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon and Sam Konstas,” Germon said.
“We’ve also seen in recent years the massive groundswell of support from Indian fans within our community whenever India travels to Australia, so to see both the Australian men’s and women’s teams locked in to play India in Sydney is another highlight.
“These three big international matches are the perfect complement to the Weber WBBL and KFC BBL fixtures that will see our Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder play in front of their members and fans at North Sydney Oval, Drummoyne Oval, the SCG and ENGIE Stadium.”
The slate of Sydney matches form part of an exciting international schedule across the country.
Cricket will be everywhere, with international matches to be played in 11 cities and 14 venues throughout an action-packed season for Australia’s national sport, spanning eight months from August through to March.
Fans across Australia will be treated to the hugely anticipated NRMA Insurance men’s Ashes five-Test series, an exciting eight-game white ball series against fierce rival India, a multiformat women’s series seeing Australia’s star-studded team taking on India and six season-opening men’s white ball matches against South Africa in the tropical north.
Attendance records set during last summer’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series will be under threat when fans flock to see Pat Cummins’ Australians attempt to defend the Ashes trophy they have held since 2017-18 against Ben Stokes’ England.
The cricket world will be gripped by a series commencing with the West Test at Perth Stadium and featuring the first Ashes D/N Test at the Gabba and the inaugural Christmas Test at Adelaide Oval before the traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests.
The hugely popular Indian teams again feature prominently on the schedule with Australia’s men taking on India in a blockbuster white ball series that includes the first five-match T20I series between the cricket heavyweights which for the first time sees the India men’s team playing on the Gold Coast.
The Australian women will host a multiformat series against the rapidly emerging Indian team including the first Test Match at the revamped WACA Ground in Perth.
Harnessing the momentum created by last season’s successful Women’s Ashes Series there will also be three big stadium matches at the SCG, Adelaide Oval and Bellerive.
The international season begins in the far north with Darwin, Cairns and Mackay hosting three T20Is and three ODIs between Australia men and South Africa following their showdown in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s in June.
The series-opening T20Is in Darwin will see international cricket return to the Northern Territory after a 17-year hiatus while Mackay and Cairns will provide a tropical backdrop for some exciting early-season encounters.
International ticket pre-sale for fans who have registered begins on June 3, 2025, while general public tickets go on sale on June 13
