McDonald’s Men’s NSW Premier Cricket finals review

The 2024/25 men’s Premier Cricket season has come to an end, with Parramatta taking out three premierships to go alongside their Club Championship this season.

Unfortunately, wet weather impacted all finals with limited play on Saturday across the grades.

SECOND GRADE – ALBERT CUP

Northern District have claimed the Albert Cup after wet weekend ended in a draw with Manly Warringah at Mark Taylor Oval. 

Brynmor Mendel was the standout for Manly, smacking 78 off 55 including seven fours and seven sixes before the side was bowled out for 197 after 47.3 overs. Northern District’s Jordan Fullagar and Jonty Webb led the bowling attack, picking up three wickets apiece.  

In response, Danul Dassanayake (41) got Northern District off to a solid start before Ryan Swain finished unbeaten on 50 as the rain set in.

THIRD GRADE – MITCHELL CUP

Parramatta have reaped the rewards of finishing top of the table, winning their fourth third grade title after a draw with St George in the final.  

Parramatta were 4/127 courtesy of Advith Boreddy (44*), Damien Guild (31) and Ryan Johns (27*) and looking comfortable in the middle. St George’s Evasio MacMillan, Joshua Moors and Patrick Brown had all picked-up wickets in their tidy spells before rain abruptly ended play.

FOURTH GRADE - REID CUP

Manly Warringah have etched their name into the history books, winning their fourth consecutive fourth grade title after weather prematurely ended the grand final clash against St George.  

St George declared at 5/124 and Manly were 2-41 before rain arrived, suspending play, and denying Manly the opportunity to finish their innings.

FIFTH GRADE – DAVID SHERWOOD CUP

Parramatta have secured their first fifth grade title since 2004/05, denying St George the chance to end their 41-year fifth grade title drought.  

Parramatta were cruising in the middle after a beautiful century from Lachlan Apps (102). Oliver Sheekey (56*) and Cameron Knight (31*) were unbeaten at the crease before inclement weather conditions prevented any further play.
