ELLA BRISCOE

Club: St George-Sutherland Cricket Club

Ella is an exciting, hard-hitting all-rounder who plays her grade cricket at St George-Sutherland. Ella was part of the St George-Sutherland side that came runner up in both the First grade T20 and 50 over competitions this year. Her top score was 62 against eventual winner Sydney and she had figures of 3-19 against Bankstown.

Ella regularly contributes not only with bat and ball, but she also excels in the field and is regarded highly by many as one of the best fielders around. She was also called up to the Australian U19 team that tour Sri Lanka in April. In October she made her WBBL debut for Sydney Thunder.

LUKE CALLANAN

Club: Randwick Petersham Cricket Club

Luke is a tall and strong right arm fast bowler with plenty of attributes to be successful. Rangy and athletic, he is a bowler of genuine pace with a smooth and economical action and the ability to hit the bat hard.

He has been a mainstay of NSW Pathway teams over recent years, having been a consistent wicket taker at Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 level. His performances were rewarded with his selection in the Australian Under 19 team that toured the United Kingdom in July/August 2023.

His progress over the past 12 months has been marred by some long-term injuries to his back and side, which has meant long stints on the sideline. Pleasingly, Luke’s no-nonsense approach and excellent work ethic saw him return to play for Randwick Petersham late in the 2023/24 season. It was great to see him continuing his development by playing in Ireland during our winter.

We look forward to Luke hopefully staying injury free and stringing those consistent performances together.

JESS DAVIDSON

Club: Sydney University Cricket Club | Central Northern Zone

Hailing from Tamworth, Jess is an athletic all-round cricketer who held a contract with the Sydney Thunder in the 2022/23 season. She has been training with the Breakers squad for the last two seasons and continues to develop her game.

Jess showed her skills in Premier cricket last season, taking 18 wickets with her zippy seamers, and also finishing in the top 10 run scorers with 397 runs. As well as being a talented cricketer, Jess is also a brilliant violinist. She will be looking to push her case for NSW selection again this season.

HANNO JACOBS

Club: Western Suburbs Cricket Club

Hanno is a tall robust fast bowler who generates good pace and bounce from his smooth, effortless action. He is also a free scoring middle, lower order batter and a beautiful mover in the outfield.

Originally from South Australia, Hanno moved to Canberra in 2021 to further his studies. During this time, he has become a regular in the ACT Comets 2nd X1, performing strongly over several seasons in the longer format.

The change in structure with ACT in 2023/24 allowed Hanno to also be selected for both NSW and ACT in 2nd X1 matches. Hanno made an immediate impact, picking up seven wickets in his debut match for NSW against a strong Victorian side.

Over the course of the 2023/24 season, Hanno played seven 2nd X1 matches - a great example of his resilience and durability.

Hanno now resides in Sydney and has continued to impress for Western Suburbs, picking up 27 wickets at 25.67 in the 2023/24 season.

ISABELLA MALGIOGLIO

Club: Parramatta District Cricket Club

Isa is an exciting young leg spinner who puts plenty of work on the ball. Her fantastic work ethic and exceptional skill saw her make her WNCL debut in the 2022/23 season, taking two important wickets in her first game. This bright start to her NSW career saw her rewarded with a Breakers contract in the 2023/24 season, and also be a part of the Thunder squad. Isa has gained a WBBL contract with the Sixers for WBBL|10.

A product of The Hills Sports High School, Isa will be looking to further develop her skills this season to once again press for NSW selection.

ANGUS MCTAGGART

Club: Randwick Petersham Cricket Club | Newcastle Zone

Originally from Newcastle, Angus is a talented allrounder from the Randwick Petersham club who has previously represented NSW Country at Under 17 and Under 19 level.

Angus enjoyed an exceptional Premier Cricket season in 2023/24. He was the second leading wicket taker in the competition, picking up 46 wickets at 17.26 with his skiddy pace and ability to consistently swing the new ball. The obvious highlight being his 10-wicket haul (7-35 and 3-53) in the outright win against Northern District.

Further to this, Angus’ 393 runs at 26.56, including three half centuries, indicating his all-round value.

His outstanding season was rewarded with his 2nd X1 debut vs South Australia in December and a further match against ACT later in the season.

We look forward to Angus getting more exposure at higher levels and continuing to build on the massive improvement he has made over the past twelve months.

FRANKIE NICKLIN

Club: Sydney Cricket Club

Frankie completed another fantastic season that proved why she is a player to watch for the future. She dominated the U19 National Championships for the NSW Metro side, finishing the competition as the leading wicket taker with 19 wickets across eight matches at an average of 6.53 and an economy of 2.68. She backed up her fantastic bowling with 116 runs across the tournament, making good contributions for her team. She was rewarded with selection in the team of the tournament.

Frankie’s performances were outstanding for Sydney University Cricket Club. She finished as the 4th leading run scorer with 459 runs at 32.79 and a high score of 104 and was the 10th leading wicket-taker with 19 wickets at 12.49 and an economy of 2.49. Her all-round performance was rewarded with selection in the NSW 2nd XI team who played South Australia in Adeleide at the end of the season.

Frankie made her WBBL for the Sydney Sixers in October.

CONNOR O'RIORDAN

Club: St George Cricket Club

Connor is another very exciting fast bowling prospect. Delivering from a tall, whippy action, Connor’s raw pace and knack of extracting life out of all surfaces, sets him apart from most of the fast bowlers in Premier Cricket.

Connor had been part of our Under 17 and Under 19 squads in previous seasons, but injuries prevented him from stringing matches together. It was therefore extremely pleasing to see him back playing in 2023/24.

His 32 wickets at 23.47 (including five wickets hauls v Sydney and Parramatta) saw him make his 2nd X1 debut in the match vs South Australia in December, as well as the 2nd X1 match later in the season vs ACT.

Connor gained some significant learnings in the two 2nd X1 matches he played, able to embrace bowling a much fuller length to increase his wicket taking options in some batter friendly conditions.

Given how little cricket Connor has played, we are very enthused by both his undoubted potential and his keenness to learn.

EVA RAGG

Club: Sydney Cricket Club

Eva is a dynamic and explosive middle order batter and handy medium fast bowler from the Sydney Cricket Club. After more than two years overcoming many serious injuries, Eva was selected to play for the NSW Metro side for the first time in the U19 age group during the 2023/24 season. She was a standout with the bat, taking on opposition bowlers and moving matches forward to the benefit of her team. Eva finished as the side’s second leading run scorer with 183 runs at 30.5, striking at 90.5, with a high score of 63. She is also a dynamic fielder who is handy in every position on the field and can make game changing plays.

Eva also had an outstanding and consistent season with Sydney Cricket Club in the Women’s Premier competition. She finished inside the top 25 run scorers with 294 runs and inside the top 15 wicket takers with 18 wickets for the season, finishing off her fine all-round season by helping her team win the Women’s First grade premiership.

Eva was rewarded with selection in the NSW 2nd XI side that travelled to Adelaide in March to complete against South Australia.

JAKE SCOTT

Club: Campbelltown Camden Cricket Club | Riverina Zone

Jake is a left-handed top order batter hailing from Wagga Wagga with an extremely versatile all-round skill set. Tall and strong with a convincing presence at the crease, Jake is a wonderful ball striker with the capacity to score all around the ground and move the game forward. Jake is also an exceptional fielder in any position with a safe pair of hands and a powerful throwing arm.

With the ball, Jake has picked up several valuable wickets with his bouncy leg spin, but with his height and athleticism he has added seam bowling to his repertoire with some encouraging results.

Jake has represented NSW County at Under 17 and Under 19 level, captaining the team at 2023/24 National Championships. He was also the leading run scorer at the Country Colts Carnival in Shellharbour with 281 runs at 70.25.

Jake carried that form into Premier Cricket, enjoying a very consistent 2023/24 season with Penrith, scoring 398 runs at the impressive average of 49.60.  He will play his cricket for Campbelltown-Camden in 2024/25.

Our coaching staff look forward to working with Jake to further enhance his considerable talents.
