Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the Match Referee Panel and State and Territory Umpire Panels (STUP) for the 2023/24 season.
2023/24 CA Match Referees and Umpire Panel
In total, 35 umpires nationwide have been selected by State and Territory Associations to join their respective Umpire Panels this season. The State and Territory Umpire Panels will be complemented by the seven CA Supplementary Umpire Panel members across all formats.
The NSW State Umpire Panel is made up of eight - Mitchell Claydon, Andrew Hamilton, Roberto Howard, Daniel Moran, Sharad Patel, Troy Penman, Claire Polosak and Bede Sajowitz.
Patel, Penman and Polosak had already been announced as part of CA’s Supplementary Umpire panel.
Alongside Premier Cricket commitments, members of respective STUPs will be appointed to officiate in CA competitions, including the Weber WBBL, Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), Toyota Second XI, CA Underage National Championships and as Fourth Umpires in the KFC BBL.
CA has also announced a change to the eight-member Match Referees Panel for the 2023-2024 summer of cricket following the retirement of Steve Bernard, and it includes NSW’s David Gilbert. Gilbert has also been upgraded to become an ICC Regional Match Referee.
Cricket NSW Head of Competitions & Officiating, Darren Goodger, congratulated the NSW contingent, singling out Claydon on his maiden appointment to the State Panel.
“Mitchell Claydon has been elevated to the State Panel for the first time and has already made his debut in the Men’s Second XI and Women’s National Cricket League, after umpiring the 2022-23 final of the U17 Male National Championships in Hobart,” Goodger said.
“We look forward to the opportunities our State Panel umpires will receive in CA competitions to showcase their ability and wish them the very best.
“Each continues to represent CNSW and the NSWCUSA with distinction as they work their way through the national umpiring pathway.”
