Men’s Plan B Country Bash kicks off with BBL curtain raiser posed to finalists

A revamped Men’s Plan B Country Bash competition gets underway in Tamworth tomorrow for sides from Northern NSW, whilst teams from Southern NSW commence their tournament in Orange next Thursday, November 23.

The zone based T20 knock-out tournament sees Central Northern take on Greater Illawarra, and North Coastal face-off against defending champions, Newcastle, in the opening round of the Northern pool. Whilst Western meet Central Coast, and Riverina clash with Southern Districts to kickstart action in the Southern pool the following week.

In an innovative addition to the country competition, the victors from either pool are granted the opportunity to play for the Men’s Plan B Country Bash title at Sydney Showground Stadium, in a final slated to take place immediately prior to the KFC BBL fixture between the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades on January 17, 2024.

Chair of Country Cricket Paul Marjoribanks said:

“The competition format this year has been changed to inject more energy into the tournament, with teams now representing their zones.

“In an exciting innovation, the final of the men’s competition will be played before the BBL match between the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades on January 17, next year.”

Marjoribanks noted the importance of road safety for players venturing far and wide to compete in the short-format tournament and others alike.

“As we know, country cricketers travel long distances to play, so it’s always important to remind all to stay safe and always have a Plan B when travelling,” Marjoribanks said.

All fixtures will be live-streamed, with links to be made available on the Country Cricket Facebook page on the day of the match: https://www.facebook.com/CCNSW
