The NSW Blues have stunned an undefeated Tasmanian XI in their return Sheffield Shield fixture at the Sydney Cricket Ground, triumphing by a margin of 74 runs.
NSW secure remarkable Shield victory at SCG
Wet weather could not withhold Ollie Davies from reaching another Sheffield Shield half-century, the talented Manly product finished the first innings unbeaten on 81no.
Jackson Bird, Jack Nisbet and Chris Tremain claimed three wickets a piece to put the Blues 24 runs ahead at the conclusion of both sides’ first at-bat.
NSW set what looked to be a seemingly modest total for Tasmania to chase, but Tremain (6-31) and Bird (4-22) hit the right spots on the SCG pitch, limiting the visitors to a second-innings score of 68 all out.
Chris Tremain was named Player of the Match and has moved to the top of the wicket-taking tally in this season’s Sheffield Shield competition.
