Manly Warringah District Cricket Club will host defending champions, Parramatta District Cricket Club, in the AW Green Shield final at Manly Oval this Sunday, January 28.
Parramatta and Manly Warringah to contest AW Green Shield final
The AW Green Shield is one of the state's premier junior competitions and showcases the talents of more than 300 aspiring U16 cricketers from 20 NSW Premier Cricket clubs, competing fiercely over six weeks for the coveted shield.
Manly Warringah Waratahs
- This is an opportunity for the host side to dust off the history books, having last won the Shield in 1991/92.
- Second-drop batter, Myles Kapoor, leads the team in runs with 336 at an astounding average of 84.00, including four half-centuries from eight innings. Kapoor sits in third for runs scored in the 23-24 edition of the competition.
- Julian Osbourne has collected the most wickets for any bowler in the competition with 20. Six more than his nearest rival. Osbourne’s tally includes at least one wicket in each fixture and best bowling figures of 5-16.
- Manly overcame Parramatta by four wickets in their round 6 clash.
Parramatta Two Blues
- The defending champions stride into the decider off the back of a three-wicket win over a previously undefeated Northern District squad.
- Captain, Blake Noorbergen, has blitzed the competition with willow in hand, striking 404 runs at an average of 101 with a top score of 145. The Green Shield’s next nearest runs scorer is teammate, Athan Maraziotis, who has 345 runs at 49.29.
- Connor Culnane has claimed 11 wickets for the Two Blues, and will be looking to claim a few more as he did in last year’s final.
