24/25 Men's NSW Premier cricket competition kicks off this weekend

The 2024/25 men’s NSW Premier Cricket competition will kick off this Saturday, with players from all 20 first-grade teams suiting up in club colours to launch their Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup campaigns.

T20 fixtures dominate the early stages of the season, with all five preliminary rounds of the T20 Cup scheduled to be played across the next two weekends, followed closely by a finals series next month that will conclude with a monster day on Sunday October 20, with both semi finals and the final, which will be played under lights, at North Sydney Oval.

The popular twenty-over tournament will continue with the format introduced last season, with four pools made up of five teams. The top three sides from each pool at the conclusion of the preliminary rounds will advance to a finals series, whilst the bottom two clubs will be eliminated.

This year, for the first time, the best performed player across the T20 Cup will be awarded the Moises Henriques Medal. The medal will be voted on by the umpires of each match, including finals, on a 3-2-1 basis.

Last year’s winners T20 Cup champions Randwick Petersham open their campaign on Saturday morning, away to Bankstown at Bankstown Oval, before jumping the fence to face St George at Grahame Thomas Oval.

Opening day will also see:

  • Campbelltown Camden, Fairfield-Liverpool, Manly Warringah, Eastern Suburbs and Mosman play out of Raby Sports Complex
  • Sydney University, Western Suburbs, UTS North Sydney, Blacktown Mounties and UNSW in action at North Sydney Oval and Bon Andrews. The highlight of this group will be UTS North Sydney taking on UNSW under lights on Saturday evening
  • Parramatta, Hawkesbury, Sydney, Sutherland and Penrith travel to Old Kings Oval and Merrylands Park
  • Last year’s runners-up Gordon and their neighbours Northern District join Randwick Petersham, Bankstown and St George at the two Bankstown ovals

Men’s lower grade sides (2nd to 5th grade) will commence their McDonald’s Premier Cricket seasons with three one-day fixtures over as many weekends, beginning September 28, while the first grade teams will start their limited overs campaigns on Saturday October 5 and their two-day fixtures on Saturday October 19.

Cricket NSW Premier Cricket Manager Sean Mantle said the T20 Cup was a great way to launch the new season with a bang.

We are really excited to get the new season underway,” Mantle said.

“Like last summer, we are getting the season underway with the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup. This will help provide a fun and fast start to the grade cricket summer before we move into one-day and two-day formats.

“I want to wish all teams, players, officials and volunteers the best for this weekend’s set of fixtures and all that follow.

“It is also an opportune time to thank our great partners, in particular Kingsgrove Sports, who are once again supporting the T20 Cup with prizemoney.”

The full fixture in season 2024/25 will include:
