Emerging NSW Blues leader Jack Edwards has been named captain of an Australia A squad to play the England Lions in a four-day tour match later this month.
The allrounder, who was this summer made captain of NSW’s Men’s One-Day side, will be joined in the Australia A squad by fellow Blues Kurtis Patterson and Josh Philippe.
Edwards has made huge contributions for NSW with ball and bat so far this summer in red ball cricket, having taken 20 wickets (third on the season’s wicket taker list) at 21.60 and scoring 215 runs with a top score of 88 and an average of 35.83.
Patterson’s selection is just reward for a brilliant Sheffield Shield season thus far, with the former Test opener scoring 527 runs (third on the season’s run scorer list) from just six innings with an average of 105.40.
Philippe returns to the Australia A squad after playing for the team against India A earlier in the summer, having made the most of his move across the Nullarbor from Western Australia.
Australia A plays the Lions at Cricket Central from January 30 - February 2.
